Even as the year is about to end, the administration's war against illegal drugs continues. And this exempts no one as ABS-CBN's cameraman was arrested last Friday in a drug buy-bust in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon city.
Anthony Martin works as a studio camera operator in the said network. Authorities were able to confiscate methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, drug paraphernalia from him as well as the marked money in the transaction.
However, Martin immediately denied the allegations saying that he didn't know that the package contains illegal substances. He also said that it was his friend, 'Buddy', who asked him to deliver the package and receive P3,500 in return. He shared that he was borrowing moneyfrom him.
"May pinadala lang sa aking 'yung pinanggalingan ko, sir... Buddy angpangalan... Magbabayad lang sa akin sir, kasi nangungutang ako sa kanya," Martin stated.
"Ihahatid ko lang po, isang give, tapos alis na po," he added.
He is now being detained at the Quezon City Police Station 7 for investigation and further questioning.
Meanwhile, the ABS-CBN released their official statement regarding the issue saying:
“ABS-CBN has a drug-free workplace policy and does not tolerate the use and distribution of illegal drugs by any of its employees. We will ensure that any of our employees proven to be engaging iillegal drugs will be subject to company policy. We are cooperating with the authorities on this matter,”
