Many were a bit confused upon seeing Denise Laurel at the Libingan ng mga Bayani during the interment of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos last Friday. Denise is the granddaughter of former Vice President Salvador ‘Doy‘ Laurel who was one of those who led the revolution ousting Marcos.
However, Denise immediately cleared the issue. She explained that it was her grandfather’s birthday and that she wanted to honor him in one of the darkest days in our democracy. She also noted how her ‘Papa Doy’ played a significant role in the democracy we are all experiencing right now.
“Let’s not let other things over shadow what today is all about.. a true hero of our country he lived by the words Ang Bayan Higit sa Lahat.. Happy Birthday Papa Doy I love u.” she captioned the post.
She also posted a video of her grandfather. She captioned the video with: Remembering and missing you on the Day God gave u to us!! Ur passion and fire will always be something that drives me and I will certainly always live by ur words “Ang Bayan Higit sa Lahat“
