When one looks at their pets sleeping, owners sometimes think: what could they be dreaming about? Do dogs even dream?
A Harvard expert revealed the dreaming patterns of cats and dogs, and what he said made many hearts ache with joy and laughter.
People had a Q&A with Clinical and Evolutionary Psychologist and teacher at Harvard Medical School Dr. Deirdre Barrett about how a dog’s dream compares to that of a human’s.
Barrett said, “Humans dream about the same things they’re interested in by day, though more visually and less logically. There’s no reason to think animals are any different.
Since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell and of pleasing or annoying you.”
When people learned of this, pet parents wept with joy and took pictures of their sleeping dogs, posting pictures of themselves as well in their emotional state.
One tweet got over 60,000 retweets and more than 90,000 likes since it was posted on Monday.
People on Twitter and Facebook eventually joined the hype, and even people without pets couldn’t hold their tears when they learned of this adorable news.
We certainly do not have the resources to know what our pets may be dreaming of, but just the mere thought of a dog dreaming of their beloved parents is enough for them to weep with joy.
