Yolanda was considered to be the greatest tragedy not just in the country but also around the world. The strongest recorded typhoon in the world swept almost the entire Leyte and some parts of Bicol. Foreign countries stood by PH and help in kind and in monetary values came as donations. However, Aquino administration have been blasted with the question of where the money went.
In a radio interview done by Erwin Tulfo with Sec. Ben Diokno on Aksyon Radio 5 last September 13,2016, he asked the Budget secretary about the status of the rehabilitation funds for the Yolanda victims.
According to Diokno, only 1,400 units were built out of 14,000 units target by the previous administration. This is 10% of the total target included in the budget for the rehabilitation of the provinces. Contrary to the defense of Mar Roxas during the election who was the DILG secretary back then, most units built were from the NGO and foreign foundations.
The interview immediately got viral as Tulfo blasted the previous administration to the lack of action done for Yolanda victims. It has now garnered 3.1k likes and more than 3k shares as of this writing.
