It's been more than a decade since the Philippines has hosted the most prestigious pageant, the Miss Universe. The last time we had the rare chance to host the pageant was in 1994, when Charlene Gonzales represented the country.
Nonetheless, the crown went to the dashing Miss India, Sushmita Sen. It was India's first-ever Miss Universe crown. Not only was she praised for her beautiful face and slender figure, but she also gave the best answer in the question-and-answer portion. Asked "What is the essence of being a woman?" she answered confidently that "Just being a woman is God's gift that all of us must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother, and is a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman. " This earned praises from all over the world.
Today, even at the age of 40, she continues to prove that beauty is timeless. She is currently a Bollywood actress, a model and a mother of two kids.
