“I’m not conservative. I never acted like I was.”
That’s what Teen Kapamilya star Nadine Lustre said when she was interviews by Sasha Uy of Cosmopolitan Magazine for the September 2016 issue about some netizens bashing her bikini photos that went viral on the internet two months ago.
“People were commenting na pa-conservative pa raw ako, tapos I’m wearing a bikini. Hindi man daw siya konserbatibo, hindi tamang husgahan siya base sa kanyang social media posts. I don’t want people to think na I’m pakawala, but I’m never going to be santa-santita. I’m not a saint,” Lustre said.
The “Till I Met You” star emphasized that she’s just going to be true to herself and not letting other people tell her what to do.
“I don’t need to remind people that I’m Nadine. When I’m not in character, I just turn into myself. Unfortunately, it’s hard to do that because the level of crap we have [to deal with in local showbiz] here is really bad,” Nadine said.
There comes a time when Nadine was asked by her followers to delete certain posts on Twitter and Instagram but she’s not going to let herself be dictated of what’s she’s going to post, she said.
“I don’t need to remind people that I’m Nadine. When I’m not in character, I just turn into myself. Unfortunately, it’s hard to do that because the level of crap we have [to deal with in local showbiz] here is really bad,” she said.
At this point, Nadine said she already accepted the fact that there will be negative comments on being a celebrity. She added that what’s important is she’s thankful for all the blessings she’s receiving.
“We used to be well-off, then my dad’s business failed. It’s made me more aggressive to achieve. It fuels me,” she said.
She and her boyfriend James Reid and co-star JC Santos can be watched on Til I Met You on ABS-CBN.
