September 12 is now officially a regular holiday throughout the country as declared by the Malacanan Palace, under proclamation no. 56 signed by the President and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea in accordance to the celebration of Eid’ul Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).
Being one of the two greatest feats of Islam, Eid’ul Adha is recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos that the observance of the Feast be on the 12th of September.
Eid’ul Adha is done to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to obey Allah’s command to give up and offer his son Ishmael. Muslims from all around the world observe this Islamic festival.
Aside from the Muslims, students and workers are looking forward for another long weekend to celebrate and take a break from school and work duties.
