- Conan Stevens, aka GoT’s “The Mountain” joined Filipino reporters on a food trip
- The Australian actor tasted sisig, crispy pata, grilled squid, and bibingka
- GMA News anchor Arnold Clavio said Stevens particularly enjoyed bibingka
Conan Stevens, who is known for his role as “The Mountain” in the popular American fantasy drama Game of Thrones, went on a unique food trip with Filipino reporters and got a taste of some the country’s delicacies.
GMA News anchor Arnold Clavio, showbiz reporter Audrey Carampel, and GMA News resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz, joined Stevens in a restaurant in Manila and introduced the Australian actor and stuntman to the local cuisine.
Among the food Stevens sampled included sisig, crispy pata, grilled squid, ginataang kuhol, tapang kabayo at bibingka.
“Aba’y matindi… Actually yung crispy pata, naka-tatlo siya. E nung gusto nang mag-takeout, umuwi na ako. [It was amazing… Actually he had three servings of crispy pata. When he wanted to have takeout, I had to go already],” Clavio recalled in jest.
According to the news anchor, “The Mountain” enjoyed the popular Filipino rice cake, bibingka, the most.
The Filipino reporters were also supposed to give Stevens a “balut challenge” but Clavio said that they weren’t able to find any street hawker selling the fertilized duck egg dish nearby.
Stevens is currently in the Philippines to take part in the 2016 revival of the Filipino fantasy drama Encantadia, where he plays the role of the giant Vishka. He has joined the other cast and crew since the last week of July to tape his scenes.
For his role, he will be speaking “Enchan” or the Encantadia language.
Stevens says he enjoyed the dishes served but he particularly enjoys the warmth and hospitality of the Filipinos he has met.
