Pokemon Go creator Niantic Labs called on cheaters of the game who modify their locations and use other methods to get ahead of the game.
The tech company said that those who employ cheating methods will face a lifetime ban from playing Pokemon Go.
Niantic Labs specified that forms of cheating are “falsifying [your] location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Pokémon GO clients or backends in an unauthorized manner including through the use of third-party software.”
“Our goal is to provide a fair, fun and legitimate game experience for everyone. We will continue to work with all of you to improve the quality of the gameplay, including ongoing optimization and fine tuning of our anti-cheat system,” the company wrote on its website.
The game went viral as soon as it was launched in various parts of the world. There have been tricks employed to cheat having to physically walk to level up in the game such as techniques to alter the location-tracking system.
Meanwhile, Niantic Labs also provided a form where players can appeal if they are erroneously banned from the game.
“If you believe your account has been terminated in error incorrectly, you can appeal that termination through this form. For privacy reasons, please do not post appeals on social media,” they said.
Pokemon Go is a mobile application developed by Niantic Labs where players can catch all 250 Pokemons by roaming the streets and searching for them. They can also be found in the game eggs to hatch and other level-up items. There are also Pokemon Gyms located in real-life places where players can battle it out and level-up.
