The issue of Marcos‘ burial in the Libingan ng mga Bayani continues to divide the nation contrary to President Rodrigo Duterte’s intention of uniting the country and moving on.
Just recently, protestants gathered in Luneta to express their opposition on the impending hero’s burial of Marcos, and along with them are big names in the Philippine politics who joined in the protest namely Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, Mar Roxas, Paolo Roxas and Leila De Lima.
Bam Aquino tweeted about the assembly saying:
“Kung hindi natin naiintindihan o nirerespeto ang ating kasaysayan, we are bound to commit the same mistakes.”
Mar Roxas said in a post it was clear to all of us ‘what’ and ‘who’ the hero is, implying that the former dictator is not one of them.
“At the rally today opposing Marcos’ burial sa Libingan. Malinaw naman kung ano at sino ang bayani.”
Paolo Roxas hashtagged his tweet with #NoToMarcosBurialAtLNMB
“Went to the rally today. Feel inspired being one with many patriots in common purpose. #NoToMarcosBurialAtLNMB”
The Varsitarian tweeted a picture of Senator Leila De Lima with the caption:
“Sen. Leila De Lima: “Hindi si Marcos ang ililibing. Ang ililibing ay tayo!”
Furthermore, many others who joined in the protest proudly shared and expressed their stand on the issue with a big banner with nothing written on it but “Marcos Not A Hero“
They also tweeted their strong opposition on the said burial.
“I can forgive. I’ve moved on. But let’s not change history. Martial law happened. People were tortured and killed. Corruption was the norm.” –Teddy B. Baguilat
“Burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani sends a message to the youth that in PH, okay lang magnakaw at pumatay, after some time you’re forgiven and honored,” Baguilat added.
“Look! All colors unite to oppose #Marcos Burial in LNMB…” –Justine Castellon
