Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa expressed his gratitude towards Sen. Leila de Lima for presenting witnesses who could prove cops that aided to summary executions amidst the administration’s firm determination to abolish drugs.
“Salamat, salamat, makakatulong sa amin ’yan to weed out scalawags sa PNP kung meron. Mas maganda para matulungan kami. We will not cover up for the misdeeds of our people,” De la Rosa said during an ambush interview at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
According to De la Rosa, some policemen who are involved in drug negotiations kill their assets— the ones they ask to sell the illegal drugs they get from those seized during operations— to silence them.
De la Rosa on his speech before the members of the National Capital Region Police Office, warned the rookie cops to be disciplined and not imitate the higher-ups who involve themselves in drugs.
Hangga’t ako ang chief PNP, I will never tolerate that kind of misdemeanor,” De la Rosa said.
Kaya importante dyan huwag kayo magpasilaw sa pera,” he said
De la Rosa also recognizes the move of De Lima to present the witnesses and families of extrajudicial killing victims at the Senate inquiry next week.
