RIO, Brazil – Mo Farah, a famous 10,000-meter race runner from Great Britain, won his third Olympic gold medal for his country.
His third gold medal is special as he won after a quick recovery even after falling down halfway the race, and continuing it to win the gold medal. With this recent triumph, Mo became the first British athlete to win three gold medals in first track and field sports. He marked this win by outlasting his East African rivals with a 27.05.17 record time.
“I was thinking ‘no, no. I can’t let Rhianna down,” the 33-year-old Farah said as quoted by Caroline Mortimer in a story by Independent.
“I always wanted to do it for her. My twin got the double gold from London and I promised this one to her. That’s what drove me home,” he added.
It was a sensational win by Mo Farah after getting back into the race despite falling down earlier. It appears that he was accidentally tripped by his American training partner Galen Rupp.
“The manner of his victory was a familiar one, but this takes him into a place where no other British athlete has been,” said BBC commentator Steve Cram, who was clearly impressed by the runner; adding that it was a simply wonderful distance running from Mo Farah.
The athlete is receiving praises from across the world for his outstanding performance.
Famous Hollywood actor Samuel Jackson tweeted, “Mo Farah! The man with the plan!! Got up & handled his Biz!! Righto GB!!”
