MADRID, Spain – A rare phenomenon was captured on video showing a baby being delivered while still inside an intact amniotic sac – more commonly known as the caul birth; a delivery that happens one in every 80,000 births.
In a Mirror Co UK story, Elle Griffiths mentioned that the video was recorded in Spain last August 6 and showed a baby delivered with the membrane covering its entire body and still on amniotic fluid, just a few minutes after its twin was delivered normally.
The amazing footage shows the newborn baby curled up inside the clear sac which is tightly stretched around its body; a few seconds after the doctors delivered the baby via Cesarean section.
The baby can be seen moving occasionally, with the umbilical cord visible inside the sac. After few more seconds, the baby can be seen moving more frequently, as if signaling its readiness to get out of the sac.
Under normal circumstances, the amniotic sac is broken because of the strenuous process of labor and delivery, or if during Caesarean delivery, it is generally pierced with a scalpel.
The video showed doctors and nurses gathering around the newborn; taking advantage of seeing a rare phenomenon with their own eyes.
