Combined forces of the military and the police nabbed a man suspected of supplying illegal drugs to members of the Abu Sayyaf Group during an illegal drugs buy-bust operation in Talipao, Sulu on Tuesday, August 2.
In a statement released on Thursday, August 4, Major Filemon Tan, spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Western Mindanao Command, the suspect – identified as Sidimar Abduhadi – was nabbed at his residence in Barangay Tinga in Talipao around 8:40 in the morning.
Abduhadi reportedly sensed that he was dealing with government agents and decided to fight out with them. He opened fired and hit a police officer.
The suspect attempted to escape but he was cornered by the pursuing soldiers and policemen. Recovered from him was a caliber .38 revolver loaded with ammunition, and seven heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and assorted drug paraphernalia.
As mentioned in Philstar, Abduhadi was placed under tactical interrogation to ascertain his links in supplying illegal drugs to the terrorist group.
Major Tan noted that in several clearing operations conducted by the military on the captured lairs of the Abu Sayyaf Group, soldiers found shabu and various drug paraphernalia in the bandits’ bunkers.
The wounded police officer is undergoing treatment at the Integrated Provincial Health Office in Jolo, according to Major Tan.
