The war is still on with long-running arch-enemies Senator Leila de Lima and President Rodrigo Duterte. During the founding anniversary event of Volunteers against Crime and Corruption’s (VACC) at Camp Aguinaldo on Friday, Duterte blatantly blamed de Lima for the unceasing trade of illegal drugs even inside their cell prisons.

Quoting from Duterte’s statement, he said “I’m undemocratic? Look at what you’re doing. Here are guys who are supposed to be in prison, paying retribution for their sins against humanity, but instead you are fattening them, and they even do business [inside Bilibid],”

It can be recalled that during the surprise raid of law enforcement agents arranged by Bureau of Corrections last December in the penitentiary, they caught some of the inmates having a VIP lifestyle. Most of these inmates are drug lords. BuCor, under the DOJ led more raids after that.

Duterte and De Lima have been exchanging harsh statements even during the campaign period. It started when de Lima, former DOJ Secretary has tagged  Duterte as a dangerous loose cannon for being a vocal supporter of executing criminals. But the former Davao City mayor has returned with a statement of de Lima being incompetent busybody who clean her backyard first.

In his speech, he criticized de Lima’s accusation of alleged links to a vigilante groups and said “De Lima said there’s someone who can testify that I was the one giving orders [to the DDS]. Why, does she think I don’t have anything on her? I have something better, it will make her cry.”
