The pain that comes along period is no longer a shock for girls considering that this had become part of the monthly torture. However did you know that this menstrual cramps are caused by surplus in prostaglandin? Prostaglandin is a hormone-like material that concerns inflammation and pain.
This hormone initiates the squeezing of uterus that causes discomfort as it hinders the uterus’ blood supply and oxygen. It is most felt before labor as they cause the force of the contraction that pushes the baby out of the mother’s womb.
There are two types of pain felt during period. The first is Primary Dysmenorrhea which normally occurs especially with woman around their 20s. The second one or the Secondary Dysmenorrhea is caused by an abnormality or problem in the woman’s womb, this happens typically to women around their 30s to 40s.
