The prayers of many has been answered as President Rodrigo Duterte has finally given Vice President Leni Robredo a cabinet position. In a coverage of PTV 4, on Thursday, President called Robredo to answer a question from the press. He called the vice president personally as he was tired of being asked about the same question over and over again whether or not he will give Robredo a cabinet post.
It can be recalled that the former congresswoman ran under the same political party with former President Benigno Aquino III.
Quoting from the phonecall, he said “Alam mo Ma’am kasi, tinawagan kita para mahinto na itong tanong-tanong…Do not be apologetic. But gusto ko na itong tanong nang tanong, tanong nang tanong. Pwede ka housing, Ma’am? Can you be the housing secretary? Tanggapin mo, Ma’am?”
Although Robredo’s responses cannot be heard, it can be concluded that she accepted the offer since Duterte told her that the executive secretary will hand her the appointment papers. The President then asked her to be in the next cabinet meeting which is set on Monday.
Duterte refers to the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC). It is the agency who is, quoting from its description, “charged with the main function of coordinating the activities of the government housing agencies to ensure the accomplishment of the National Shelter Program.”
