- A Grab car female passenger has accused a driver of harassment
- The driver supposedly showed her ‘porn pic’ and told inappropriate stories
- The passenger said she shared her story to warn everyone about the driver’s ‘foul behavior’
MANILA, Philippines – A female passenger has decried the alleged harassment she suffered in the hands of a Grab car driver early this month.
In a Facebook post by a lady passenger last July 3, she narrated her encounter with a ‘boorish’ cab driver whose apparent way of greeting female passengers is by saying “Ganyan mga tipo ko, Katulad mo” [That’s my type, just like you] upon boarding his car.
While traveling, the woman said the driver did not only immediately launch on a conversation with her, but he supposedly even shared stories about his family, and even went to the extent of showing pictures of his children on his phone.
But what happened next shocked the sharer even more.
“…then he browsed again a pic from his phone bigla siya nagpakita ng [he suddenly showed me] something like a pic ng “PORN” Which is not right,” she further narrated.
“While we are waiting sa green lights ng stop light there was a girl wearing leggings and sando bigla niya pinoint out then he said, ” ganyan mag suot ung ano ko eh. Bakat, Bakat lahat pati *censored* [Another foul word],” she went on.
[While we were waiting for the stop light to turn green, there was this girl wearing leggings and a top tank, he suddenly pointed to the girl and said, “That’s how my ____ wear clothes. Everything is almost visible including [censored].]
The man also shared more inappropriate stories which the passenger has deemed to be too personal and should not be discussed with a stranger.
To ward off the driver’s foul behavior, the passenger said she opted to pretend like she was speaking on the phone since she has started to get a bit scared, and “to stop him from telling such stories”.
She also refused to take a nap despite his insistence.
The sharer said she was initially against posting the driver’s full name and the car’s plate number, but her friends and mom eventually forced her to post the details on Facebook to warn everyone.
She gave the driver’s name as William dela Cruz and the car’s plate number as WPQ 474.
“So guys, please be aware of this grab car driver. I got him around Pasay area,” her post ended.
Meanwhile, the app-based vehicle service through its PR Manager Lorelei Olalia said it has blacklisted the driver; saying that: “The driver in question has been blacklisted from Grab and we have given notice to the peer/operator.” This was relayed to GMA News Online via a text message on Friday.
Olalia further informed the public that such incidents, however isolated, “undermine the large majority of morally upright, disciplined and professional drivers that have made it through Grab’s rigorous screening and training process.”
Moreover, Grab assures the riding public that they will continue to strengthen its protocols as they have “zero tolerance for immoral, impolite, undisciplined and unprofessional behavior by Grab driver and that they are taking this incident seriously.”
