Unlike other rhetorical and long speeches delivered by most dignitaries, President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s speech during his inauguration on June 30 will be brief but meaningful.
This was revealed by Davao City administrator Jesus Mel as he said that the brief speech may bring Duterte even closer to the public.
“Kapag narinig nila ang speech na ito, magbabago ang kanilang pagtingin kay Duterte,” Mel was quoted as saying in an article written by Trisha Macas on GMA News Online.

Presidential Communications Secretary-designate Martin Andanar, in a message to GMA News Online, disclosed that the speech will also stir the Filipinos’ nationalism and will surely captivate the patriotic spirit of the people.
On the other hand, an article published by Philippine Daily Inquirer said that an unnamed source revealed Duterte’s speech is estimated to last about 15 minutes to include the applause and adlibs.
Known for his long speeches which are marked by rambling anecdotes, rants, curses and jokes, Duterte earlier announced that his inaugural speech would only be five minutes long. He, however, later said he was joking when he said that.
Meanwhile, the source assured that the prepared speech will be “curse-free.” “There was emphasis on what people should expect from his administration. There was emphasis on the changes that he was going to implement,” the source added.
Prior to the inaugural rites, guests will gather at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) where breakfast will be served.
The guests will then be taken to Malacañang via bus where Duterte will take his oath.
