Are the 95-96 Chicago Bulls still the greatest NBA team of all time? For Dennis Rodman, it’s a yes all the way.
On his Twitter, the retired Bulls player congratulated both the Cleveland Cavaliers for clawing their back from a 3-1 deficit to win the Finals and the Golden State Warriors for their league-best 73-9 win-loss record.
At the same Rodman — known for his legendary hustle and rebounding skills during his heyday — said the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls are still the greatest of all time.
“Congrats @cavs for winning @NBA title. @warriors u had a great regular season. But the greatest team of all time is the 95-96 @chicagobulls,” he tweeted.
Teammate Scottie Pippen also agreed; saying the Warriors could not be considered one of the greats right now since they collapsed in the finals and failed to bring home the championship.
“We had done so well and now we’re faced with the same thing that the Warriors were faced with. Can this team be considered one of the greatest teams? Well, you can’t be considered a great team until you win a championship,” he said.
“No matter how well you do in the regular season, it has to be capped off with a championship, to really mark your legacy in the game. That’s where we see Golden State had some failure there. They lost their dominance throughout the playoffs,” Pippen added.
Led by Michael Jordan, the 95-96 Bulls notched a 72-10 regular season record before steamrolling through their opponents in the playoffs. They swept the Miami Heat in the first round, destroyed the New York Knicks 4-1 in the semifinals, and again swept the Orlando Magic in the Conference Finals before finally drubbing the Seattle Supersonics 4-2 in the Finals.
