MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine’s largest fast food chain, Jollibee, had revealed two genuinely Filipino items as an addition to their menu; just in time for the celebration of the country’s Independence Day on June 12.
An article by Rappler published on May 31 said that the fast-food giant launched the two new items in their menu; namely, adobo flakes Yum! burger and the halo-halo sundae, during a special event on Tuesday.
Starting June 1, customers of Jollibee can order the adobo flakes burger for P59, and the halo-halo sundae for P35 for a limited time.
“Get a taste of a new Jollibee Adobo Flakes Yum! Burger at Halo-Halo sundae starting tom, June 1! #PinoyandProud,” said Jollibee on their official Twitter account.
An article by ABS-CBN News said that adobo flakes burger, which is a variation of the popular Yum! burger, is made extra delicious with adobo flakes and a special sauce, while the halo-halo sundae comes with a number of toppings, including red beans, macapuno, banana and jackfruit, and nata de coco, plus ube syrup.
Reports said that Jollibee’s most famous item yet, the Chickenjoy, will also have a new limited edition bucket design; featuring the Jollibee mascots in Filipiniana attire. The new bucket design will be available on June 6.
Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) is a Filipino multinational chain of fast food restaurants; with their headquarter located in Pasig City. JFC is the owner of the popular fast food brand Jollibee, which is dubbed by many as Asia’s answer to McDonald’s in the fast-food burger business.
Because of its tremendous success, JFC was able to acquire some of its competitors in the fast food business in the Philippines and abroad such as Chowking, Greenwich Pizza, Red Ribbon, Mang Inasal, and Burger King Philippines.
By January 2015, JFC has an estimated 3,000 stores worldwide and has a system-wide retail sales of 82.1 billion pesos as of the year 2011.
