- President-elect Duterte will take his oath of office before SC Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes
- Reyes is a fraternity brother of Duterte from the San Beda College of Law-based Lex Talionis fraternity

Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes will administer President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s oath of office during his inauguration on June 30.
Christopher “Bong” Go, Duterte’s Executive Assistant and member of the inaugural committee, told reporters on Thursday, June 16, that the incoming president chose to take his oath before Associate Justice Reyes.
Reyes is Duterte’s “brod” from the San Beda College of Law-based Lex Talionis fraternity, according to the June 16, 2016 Politiko article.
President Benigno Aquino appointed Reyes as SC Associate Justice in 2011. Prior to that, he was an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals as appointed by then President and now Manila Mayor Erap Estrada in 2000.
He was nominated to be the next Chief Justice in 2012, but he declined the nomination.
Reyes graduated with a degree in law at San Beda College of Law in 1971. One of his classmates was the incoming Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre. Duterte was from class of 1972.
Duterte’s inauguration will be held at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall of the Malacañang Palace, which can accommodate up to only 540 people.
The limited space of the ceremonial hall is one of the reasons given why Vice President-elect Leni Robredo will have a separate inauguration. It cannot accommodate both Duterte and Robredo’s guests. A separate inauguration would favor Robredo as she would be able to invite more guests, the Duterte camp said.
Robredo’s oath of office will be administered by Barangay Captain Ronaldo Coner of Barangay Punta Tarawal, Calabanga, in Camarines Sur.
