MANILA, Philippines – Actress and comedienne Melai Cantiveros has threatened to file charges against a female netizen who posted derogatory remarks against her and her baby on social media.
The woman is an alleged supporter of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as her Facebook timeline showed a poster which says “I am a Filipino and my president is Duterte.”
On the Instagram account she shares with husband Jayson Francisco, Cantiveros posted a screen capture of a Facebook post by one Shawie C. Enriquez with unsavory remarks against the former Pinoy Big Brother winner.
The post read: “Idol k kau pero nag mkita k vedio [sic] nyo b***shit mkhang pera kau sna ma rape anak nyo panalo c duterte, b*****it kapal mukha paayos mu ung ngipin melay mukha kang mangkukulam mkhang pera.” (Loose translation: You are my idol but after I saw your video, b*****it, you’re only after the money. I wish your child would be raped, Duterte is the winner. B*****it, thick-faced, have your teeth fixed, Melay, you look like a witch money-faced]
Melai’s reaction
Reacting to the defamatory words, Cantiveros said that being a supporter of Mar Roxas, she tried to keep her calm amid the bashing. However, she said the netizen went too far by threatening her child.
“Pero kung sasabihin mo saken “sana ma-rape ang anak ko “—- ay ibang usapan na yan. Lalaban ako dahil hindi na tama ang punto mo. Pati anak kong baby na babae idadamay mo!?” the comedian wrote. [But if you will tell me that “I wish your child will be raped”, that’s another story. I will confront you because you went too far. Why did you have to involve my baby girl?]
Cantiveros also threatened to file charges against Enriquez and challenged other Duterte supporters if such an act is still within the bounds of propriety.
“Handa ako mag file ng kaso sa taong to. Pls help me repost her face sa social media…” she wrote. [I’m ready to file a case against this person. Please help me repost her face on social media.]
The Your Face Sounds Familiar first-ever winner also called on the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as well as the Bantay Bata on the appropriate action that could be taken against Enriquez
Apology
Meanwhile, on her Facebook account, Enriquez has apologized to Cantiveros and have asked for the latter’s forgiveness. At the same time, she also sought the help of fellow Duterte supporters.
But in her latest status update, Enriquez said her account was allegedly hacked by someone who posted the offensive remarks against Cantiveros.
Nevertheless, Enriquez reiterates she is sorry for hurting Melai and her family.
Meanwhile, let this be a reminder to watch what you post on social media and to give respect so as to be respected. Don’t let the election bring out the worst in you.
