• Liquid shabu worth at least P1 billion were seized
• The police are looking for Taiwanese suspects who rented the house from its owner
Agents from the Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG) seized several gallons of liquid shabu worth at least P1 billion in a house inside a posh subdivision in Angeles, Pampanga.
PNP-AIDG Deputy Director Senior Supt. Leonardo Suan said 50 gallons of liquid shabu were recovered from one of the houses along Don Vicente Street in Villa Dolores Subdivision in Barangay Sto. Domingo. Chemicals used in manufacturing shabu were also found.
The liquid shabu is crystallized when stored in a freezer, Suan said.
He said they raided the house after two months of surveillance.
Officials from the homeowners association of the subdivision said the house is owned by a lawyer and was rented out to a certain Taiwanese identified only as Chang two months ago.
No one was arrested as the occupants of the house were not around during the court-approved search.
According to the homeowners association, the house was often locked up. The stench coming from the house has started drawing the attention of neighbors.
An Inquirer article dated May 31, 2016 noted that this is the second shabu laboratory discovered in Pampanga this year.
Inquirer’s Tonette Orejas wrote that on March 16, agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency raided a house in Clover Street, Timog Park Subdivision which yielded chemicals used in the manufacture of shabu including 99 sacks of sodium hydroxide, 2 barrels of undetermined substance, 3 containers of undetermined liquid, ammonia, red phosphorus, ethanol, cupric sulfate, iodine, ethanol and assorted laboratory equipment such as beaker, separator funnel, glass container, test tubes and flasks.
