Did this really happen?
A number of videos have gone viral on social media and it’s because of the phenomenal jumping of tons of fishes out of the sea; much to the excitement of the locals in the area who scurried to load their containers with the easy catch.
Looking at the strange occurence as a blessing for the people, online users have shared the videos; remarking that such is a miracle for people to have much to eat. Many have expressed thanks to the creator for the abundant catch which is a big help to the people.
However, there are those who have expressed worry and are perturbed over a possible tsunami or some kind of tragedy befalling the place. A number even referred to the phenomenon as a sign of the coming of end times.
Still others have shared that the exciting yet alarming incident is a sign of distress on the side of the fishes; with some even pointing out that it’s an effect of climate change or that those fish avoided the big ones that are hunting them which, they say, is a very natural phenomenon.
Someone named Jennelyn remarked with concern that it: “happened just yesterday.. Something is terribly wrong.. There is possibility the ocean not enough oxygen, ocean pH is unbalanced, excessive algae, and red tide.. Please don’t eat those fish without health organizations inspection.”
Others who professed to have lived near the ocean said it’s not that uncommon as there are seasons of abundance from the sea. What is more scary, according to them, is the drying up of the ocean.
Well, with the national election mood still in the air, trust people to have that ‘hangover’ feeling — connecting the phenomenon to a celebration over Duterte winning the presidency. Yes, expect the Filipino humor to surface any time over anything.
Online user Arcilla injects a bit of Davao City Mayor in the strange harvest; saying: “Sabi ng mga isda, panalo na si Duterte!! Mas okey nang kainin tayo ng mga tao, nakatulong pa tayo, kesa mabusog tayo sa dugo ng mga bangkay ng masasamang taong ipapatapon sa dagat ni duterte!”
