- Vice President hits Davao City mayor for controversial rape remark
- He says Duterte’s reasons for his words show his flip-flopping nature and indecisiveness
- He also says mayor’s non-apology reflects his insincerity
MANILA, Philippines – With Rodrigo Duterte being blasted by his critics over his controversial rape remark, Vice President Jejomar Binay also took the opportunity to twit the Davao City mayor for being indecisive and insincere.
According to Binay, Duterte’s reasoning reflects his flip-flopping nature and indecisiveness.
“Itong si berdugo, pinagbibintangan akong nangangatal. Siya ngayon ang nangangatal. Ang puso niya kasi hindi niya malaman kung ano ang sasabihin. Earlier, I think, kahapon ang sabi niya nagbibiro lang siya. Ngayon, iba na itong lumalabas sa dyaryo. It was no joke. So which is which? Babala-balandra itong isinasagot na ito,” GMA News quoted him as saying.
[This executioner, he accuses me of trembling in fear. Now, he is the one shaking. It’s because he does not know what to say from his heart. Earlier, I think, it was yesterday, he said he was just joking. Now, the newspapers are saying differently. It was no joke. So which is which? His answers are scattered.]
Continuing his attack, Binay said it is safe to say Duterte’s non-apology means he was also insincere in his asking for forgiveness from Pope Francis after he jokingly cursed him for causing traffic in Manila during his visit.
“Apparently, hindi siya serious noong humingi siya ng apology kay Pope. Kasi do not ask him to repent ‘for what I’ve done.‘ O, e bakit ka nag-repent kay Pope?” he said.
[Apparently, he was not being serious when he asked Pope Francis for an apology. Because he said not to ask him to repent ‘for what I’ve done.’ Now, why did he repent before the Pope?]
