Four foreign nationals were arrested by operatives from the Quezon City Police District’s (QCPD) Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit during a drug sting in Quezon City on Sunday, April 17.
The four drug dealers, two Chinese and two Taiwanese nationals, were arrested at the parking lot of a local fastfood chain during the drug buy-bust operation in the Philcoa area.
ABS-CBN News said National Capital Region Police Office Chief Police Director Joel Pagdilao identified the suspect as Chinese nationals Wei Chang Lee and Henry Go Sy and Taiwanese nationals Chu Cheng Chu and Shan Wen Lee.
Supt. Jay Agcaoili, chief of the QCPD-District Special Operations Unit, said the suspects were arrested at the parking lot of Jollibee on Commonwealth Ave., Barangay San Vicente, Philcoa, Quezon City at around 5:30 p.m. after selling a kilo of the illegal substance to a police undercover agent for only P1 million.
A kilo of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) has an estimated street value of P5 million.
After the suspects’ arrest, 74 more kilos of shabu was found inside the suspects’ Hyundai Starex with plate number TIX 746. The P1 million marked money used by the poseur-buyer was also recovered.
Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ricardo Marquez described the confiscated shabu as high-grade.
The suspects are believed to be members of a large drug syndicate operating in Metro Manila. The four are now detained and are facing charges for violation of the Republic Act No. 9165; otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, the operatives involved in the drug bust were lauded by many citizens for their successful conduct of operation.
