MANILA, Philippines – Two of the Philippines’ pride, Manny Pacquiao and reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, finally crossed paths on Thursday, April 14 at Novotel Manila in Cubao, Quezon City.

Pacquiao was at the Cubao hotel following his victory motorcade around the Araneta Center, while Wurtzbach was there for a press conference ahead of the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 coronation night.
The ‘Pambansang Kamao’ shared his photo together with the beauty queen on his Instagram account.
He wrote: “Photo with Miss Universe @piawurtzbach #proudtobePinoy”
Wurtzbach’s victory in the Miss Universe pageant became a source of inspiration for Pacquiao.
According to an article written by Eddie Alinea for Philboxing, Pacquiao remembered when Wurtzbach promised to avenge him after he lost via unanimous decision against Floyd Mayweather Jr. when they faced each other in the so-called “Fight of the Century” May last year.
Wurtzbach’s tweet reads: “Kalma lang guys. Ako bahala. Babawi tayo sa Miss Universe!!”

Pacquiao said Wurtzbach fulfilled her promise and he intends to do the same.
“Ang masasabi ko lang ay tatandaan ko ang mga ‘yun, which I intend to use as an inspiration and additional motivation for me in my next fight.
