- Vice President Binay says he will be elected as the next president
- He says he’ll win by 4 million votes
- He thanked his party mates for supporting him and told them they will never regret their decision
UNISAN, Quezon – Vice President Jejomar Binay is confident that he’ll be elected as the next president of the Philippines in the coming May 2016 elections and edge out his nearest opponent by a margin of four million votes.
According to an article published by Philippine Daily Inquirer, the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) standard-bearer told the local candidates of his party during their proclamation rally: “Sa tantya ko katulad ng tantya ko noong pagkandidato ko noon ng vice president (in 2010), at the end of the day I think ay lalamang ako ng nasa 4 na milyon.”
[Just like my estimate in 2010 when I ran for vice president, at the end of the day, I think I will win by a margin of about four million votes.]
He told his party mates that they made the right decision when they chose to support him and despite his unfavorable numbers in the latest election surveys, he fearlessly declared that he is still on the lead.
“Hindi kayo magsisisi at magkakamali ng pagsuporta at pagkampanya sa akin kasi ngayon, tapos na ang pulitika, lalo na sa national. Kung baga sa manok ay llamado tayo sa labanang ito.”
[You will not regret supporting and campaigning for me because the political fight is over especially on the national stage. If we’ll liken this to a cockfight, then all bets are on us.]
Binay emphasized that his greatest edge against his opponents is his organization and field work.
He noted that at this stage, the other presidential candidates are still looking for allies. Whereas in his case, he already has an organization and field work because he experienced these all before, when he ran for vice president.
GMA News Online quoted him as saying: “Tayo ay magsama sama–sa panalo ni Jojo Binay,” he added.
[Let’s all come together to the victory of Jojo Binay.]
