- Senator Bongbong Marcos reacted on the alleged new case of tanim-bala scheme at NAIA
- Marcos said the country should be known for planting agricultural produce instead of bullets
- An elderly woman was recently held at the airport after a bullet was supposedly found in her bag
Vice presidential hopeful Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. hit the airport management after an alleged fresh case of “tanim-bala” [bullet planting] scheme victimized an elderly woman at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 1 (NAIA-1) on Tuesday, April 19.
“The country should be known for planting real agricultural produce instead of bullets on unsuspecting passengers,’’ Sen. Marcos said as quoted by Manila Bulletin.
“It is embarrassing for the country as a whole because we are getting the reputation of being good at planting bullets instead of farm produce,” he added.
The senator, who is currently the frontrunner in the vice presidential race, expressed fear that the country’s tourism industry would be affected adversely “because tourists will be afraid to go through our airports.”
Marcos expressed frustration over the latest incident; saying there is no stopping the culprits from victimizing the most vulnerable like the septuagenarian grandmother.
“We have already investigated this and now it is happening again. Airport authorities should really get to the bottom of the matter, because this issue has been festering for months now. If they cannot curb the problem, they should make room for people who have the capability to do so,” he said.
He then reiterated his earlier call for the removal from office of some airport officials who do not perform their duties well.
“This will continue to happen until no leadership change happens in our premier airport and this is very frustrating for all of us especially for our travelers,” he said.
