Can’t find a motivation to run? Well, this grandmother sure will inspire you to wear those running shoes and hit some tracks.
At age 88, Iva Barr has ran 30 marathons since she engaged in the sport when she was just 55 years old. And she has no plans of stopping just yet.
Participating in all those marathons, Barr was able to raise as much as £10,000 since she began leading her to getting the Point of Light Award granted by British Prime Minister David Cameron himself last year.
She has also finished every runner’s dream: to cross the village of Marathon in Greece where the origin of the sport began from the time of ancient Greek soldiers.
“I’ve been out to Athens and done the original one from the town of Marathon up through the mountains, which I looked upon that as a marathon runner’s pilgrimage, it’s so gorgeous,” she was quoted as saying in a Mirror feature.
But what keeps the senior marathoner alive and energetic in conquering long trails?
“I think I run I don’t race,” she shared in the same story.
“I’m not interested in the time I do. I think most of the injuries and discomfort come from the fact that people have a mindset in about how long they take,” she added.
