- Roxas said he will be the “flavor of the month” come May
- Roxas said he is trending at the right time
With three more weeks left before the official campaign period ends on May 7, Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas is hoping to see his numbers to significantly rise.
Since the start of the campaign period, Roxas has been trailing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Grace Poe and Vice President Jejomar Binay in nearly all the presidential surveys.
However, his camp believes that a lot of things can happen in three weeks.
Iloilo Representative Jerry Treñas said Mar Roxas can do it, saying the “Liberal Party’s machinery can deliver an extra push for the administration candidates translatable to at least 8 to 12 percentage points”
None of the other candidates have the political machinery that Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo have, Treñas added.
In an interview on Friday, April 15, Mar Roxas said that while he is not leading now, he will be the “flavor of the month” come May 2016.
“I am trending at the right time,” Roxas said as quoted by CNN Philippines.
“Kung titignan natin, maganda ang trending. Pebrero: sino ‘yung flavor of the month? Binay. Tapos bawat flavor of the month, kinikilatis, tinitignan, tinitimbang. Marso, iba na flavor of the month, Grace na. Kinilatis, tinimbang. Abril, iba na flavor of the month. Duterte. Kinikilatis ngayon, tinitimbang. Itong kanyang mga pananalita na ampaw, na walang laman, na pabago-bago. Mayo, sino flavor of the month? Kaya maganda ang trending natin. Okay?” Roxas said, drawing laughter from the reporters.
[If we look at it, the trending is good. In February, Vice President Jejomar Binay was the flavor of the month. In March, it was Sen. Grace Poe. And in April, it’s Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. In May, who will be the flavor of the month?]
“I’m confident that come May, we’ll be the flavor of the month,” the LP bet said.
