Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle lost his luggage from a Cathay Pacific flight on Saturday after arriving from a trip from Spain.
In an article published by GMA News Online on April 10, 2016, it was disclosed that the Church leader waited for about half an hour at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3’s VIP lounge with Msgr. Modesto Teston of the Archdiocesan Commission on Migrants and Their Families, who also serves as the chaplain of the Apostleship of the Air, to receive a report about the archbishop’s lost belongings.
According to an airline personnel, the cardinal’s belongings might have been off-loaded during a connecting flight that he took from Spain to Canada before finally flying to the Philippines.
Airport officials have also asked Tagle to file a formal complaint about the incident in order to locate his lost bag which contains important personal belongings.
On April 3, 2016, the high-ranking Church official celebrated the Holy Mass with the members of the Filipino community at the Basilica Parroquia de la Medalla Misericordia in Madrid to commemorate the Feast of the Divine Mercy.
In his homily, Tagle encouraged the Filipinos to “make the most out of the opportunities given to them” and “determine ways on how they can contribute to the betterment of the world.“
The prelate, who also serves as the president of the international Catholic humanitarian organization Caritas Internationalis, was welcomed in Spain by Ambassador Carlo Salinas, Isabelita Salinas, and the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Madrid.
