Here comes the bride, all dressed in… black?
Australian blogger Sophie Cachia shared the reason why she opted to wear a black dress on her wedding day; saying that she did not want to get married like everyone else.
In an article written by Greta Jaruseviciute of Bored Panda, it was disclosed that instead of getting married wearing a traditional, long, white wedding gown, she wore a stunning black dress; while her husband, Jaryd, was clad in a maroon dinner jacket with a paisley shirt, black bow tie, and leather pants.
According to Cachia, her choice has nothing to with the fact that she is already a mother when she walked down the aisle.
“The first thing I must state is that my choice had nothing to do with the old ‘white wedding dresses are for virgins,’” she said in an interview. “Evidently though, my son Bobby is proof that that boat sailed years ago. I only assume that throughout my experiences and knowledge of our generation that if only virgins wore white, we’d be seeing more of an array of multi-coloured brides.”
Cachia only wants to follow her heart’s desire to be different.
“The thing was though, I never saw myself in those white dresses. Black is classic. It looks good on just about everyone. It’s bold, it’s sexy, it’s daring. My now husband suggested I wear black when we first got engaged. We don’t do anything by the book. We didn’t see the point in doing anything traditional because traditional simply isn’t us,” she added.
Meanwhile, she expressed that she had been completely blown away by the positive response to her gown.
