A woman, identified as Lea Pasamonte Sorongon, was found dead in Barangay Taslan, Dumarao, Iloilo after she was reported missing for three days by relatives.
As mentioned in an article written by Bea Zaragosa which was published on ABS-CBN, the 42-year-old woman, who is a resident of Pototan, Iloilo, was found lifeless with a rope tied around her neck and attached to a tree.
Based on the victim’s statement, Sorongon had been missing since the night of March 22. Allegedly, the victim’s body had no undergarments when she was found.
According to the investigation conducted by the police, a CCTV footage was taken in the town of New Lucena in Iloilo on March 22.
The CCTV footage showed the victim driving her car with a man sitting on the passenger seat; authorities have disclosed.
On the other hand, a relative of the victim stood as witness and claimed to have seen Sorongon passing by Pototan town on that day when she was reported missing.
Purportedly, Sorongon was driving her car with a man sitting on the passenger seat along with a woman seated on the backseat.
The relative narrated they even tried to drive near the victim’s car but Sorongon allegedly drove off fast.
The victim’s car was later recovered in Dumarao town, abandoned, with the key still on the key slot.
Authorities said the car also has a crack on its windshield.
At present, authorities are looking at different angles and motives of the crime but concluded that more than one assailant were involved.
Police Senior Inspector Ariel Corcino said the suspect may have a deep grudge against the victim.
Meanwhile, the police have yet to determine whether the victim was raped before being murdered.
The PNP has likewise sought the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for the speedy solution of the crime.
