- Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo’s numbers continue to rise in the latest Pulse Asia Survey
- She again narrowed the gap against frontrunners Escudero and Marcos with a 3-point jump from last month
- The Pulse Asia result mirrors the SWS survey where Robredo gained 5 points
MANILA, Philippines – With barely two months remaining before the May election, Camarines Sur Rep. and vice presidential hopeful Leni Robredo is slowly but steadily narrowing the gap between her and frontrunners Chiz Escudero and Bongbong Marcos as shown in the recently-released Pulse Asia survey.
After jumping 5 points in the Social Weather Station (SWS) survey conducted around the same period, the Liberal Party (LP) bet also gained 3 points in the latest Pulse Asia pre-election poll; marking a continuous upward trend in her ratings over the past several weeks.
In the survey conducted by Pulse Asia from March 1 to 6, Escudero and Marcos remained the top contenders with 25% and 22%, respectively.
But unlike Robredo, Escudero lost a point while Marcos’ numbers dipped by 4 points from last month’s survey where they are tied at 26% apiece.
Although Escudero and Marcos remained ‘statistically tied’ on top, Robredo narrows the margin this time with 21% ratings; up from last month’s 18%.
“Unang-una masayang masaya na tumaas ako nang ganoon kataas. Siyempre palagi natin pinagdarasal na tumaas pero hindi natin ine-expect na ganoon ang jump,” the ecstatic Robredo told reporters during an interview after Monday’s Go Negosyo vice presidential forum.
[First of all, I am overwhelmed that my ratings went up that much. Of course, I am always praying for it to rise further but I am not expecting it will jump as much.]
The Pulse Asia result mirrors the SWS survey conducted on March 4-7 where Robredo was the biggest gainer with 5 points (24%) to come within striking distance of Escudero (28%) and Marcos (26%).
“Noong nakita ko ang survey parang lalo ako na-energize at na-inspire dahil nagbubunga naman lahat ng pagod,” the widow of the late Jesse Robredo added. [After I saw the survey (result), I was energized and inspired because my labors eventually paid off.]
Meanwhile, the remaining vice presidential candidates have virtually unchanged ratings compared to last month’s.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano remains in fourth place with 14% (up by 1 point from February) while Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Gregorio Honasan maintains their previous numbers and rankings with 6% and 5% respectively.
The survey was conducted among a larger 2,600 respondents nationwide with a smaller margin of error of +/- 1.9 %.
