A 30-year-old public school teacher and a former contestant of “I Am PoGay,” a segment on “It’s Showtime” dedicated to gay men which aired back in 2014, will represent the country in an international pageant dubbed Mr. Gay World to be held in Malta on April.
Handpicked by Mr. Gay Philippines national director Wilbert Ting Tolentino, who was the first-ever Filipino to compete in the pageant, Christian Lacsamana said he is all set to show the world his potentials, an article published by ABS-CBN stated.
According to Lacsamana, the recent death of his mother has been keeping him motivated as he aims to take home the country’s first-ever Mr. Gay World title as he further disclosed that he will be competing against more than 30 other candidates.
In 2014, Lacsamana placed runner-up to Baguio’s John Raspado for the title of the first-ever grand winner of “I Am PoGay.”
A college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in education, he revealed that just like Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, he will be advocating for more awareness on HIV.
Mr. Gay World is a global competition that aims to inspire and empower gay men by providing them a venue to “demonstrate that both inward beauty and physical appearance are equally important as is leadership and confidence.”
Hong Kong’s Mass Luciano is the current reigning Mr. Gay World title-holder after Klaus Burkart of Germany resigned as the winner in November last year.
