- He defends himself over ‘gigs’ in Binays’ political sorties
- He posted his side on his Facebook wall
He was accused of selling out to the Binays when he participated in their political sorties. Yes, embattled rapper Gloc9 (Aristotle Pollisco in real life) couldn’t help but speak up; saying he was just performing a job.
On his Facebook, Pollisco earlier posted his side; airing his sentiments over the issue. He urges detractors not to take his performance for the Binays personally since he was not actually endorsing them but is just working for his family’s sake.
His post read: “Hangga’t walang kamay na itinataas, dapat walang bibig na bumubukas [As long as nobody’s hand is being raised, no lips should flap].”
The post also contains the hashtags #Sukli, #salamatposabiyaya, #parasaanak, #makataspinas, #kayod, #ppl, #pangarap, #hanggatmeronupaklang, and #labanderongrapper.
Pollisco, who is popular for his rap songs which dealt on social issues in the country, first performed for the Binays during their Easter Sunday rally in Noveleta, Cavite. The following day, he again appeared during the proclamation rally of Makati mayoralty bet Rep. Abigail Biinay and their local allies.
He has since been drawing flak online; with many disappointed fans accusing their idol of selling out to the Binays for money. Some found his act ironic because many of his critically-acclaimed songs such as “Upuan” and “Dapat Tama” delve on corrupt politicians and an unjust political system.
In February, reports said that the camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay acquired the rights to Pollisco’s “Pareho Tayo” song and has since been used as his campaign jingle. Following the purchase, Pollisco clarified he is not endorsing Binay’s candidacy. However, the bashings have continued.
He was advised by his management not to comment any further but he posted that he just can’t keep himself from explaining his side further so he aired his sentiments anew via another Facebook post.
He apologized to those who did not find his ‘gigs’ with the Binays as commendable and who thinks his “it’s just a job” reply is an unacceptable ‘excuse’. He reiterates that performing is his only job and that it’s not a hobby.
He also said: “Ako ay kumakanta sa entablado ng ibat ibang kandidato marahil ay hindi nyo lang gusto ang isang entabladong sinampahan ko.” [I sing onstage with different candidates, but perhaps you just didn’t like one stage I hopped on.]
Pollisco also mentioned that if in the end all the accusations are proven true, he will ask for forgiveness — not from anyone else, but only from his children because he believes that it is only with his kids that he is accountable. “Hihingi ako ng tawad sa aking mga anak dahil naniniwala ako na sa kanila lamang ako may pananagutan.”
