- Duterte says Binay ‘has it all’ while Mar Roxas is a ‘weakling’
- The Davao City mayor lambasted his presidential rivals during a campaign sortie in Butuan City
- Duterte dedicates his victory to people who were not fairly treated in the delivery of basic services and justice
BUTUAN CITY – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has tagged Vice President Jejomar Binay as someone who ‘has it all’ and called administration candidate Mar Roxas as a ‘weakling.’
Duterte who spoke to the crowd during his campaign sortie here last Friday, made the description of Binay as a person who has it all as he lacks nothing particularly when one speaks of stealing.
Ben Serrano, in an article published by the Philippine Star on March 7, said the mayor also hit his other rivals in the presidential race including Sen. Grace Poe.
Duterte said Roxas, who comes from a rich and influential family, is a “weakling, pretentious and ignorant of the ways of the poor.”
Then speaking in the Visayan dialect, Duterte cracked a joke saying that Poe is very much likely to top the surveys because everybody prays for her; even the priests who recite ‘Hail Mary, full of Grace.’
In a meeting with the Rotary District, the presidential aspirant from Davao City lambasted the administration for denying to grant an increase in the Social Security System pensions.
He claimed that the Aquino administration has allowed corruption and incompetence to continue in almost all government agencies.
He also accused the present government for serving only the interests of rich friends and allies while failing to serve the welfare of the Filipino people.
He alleged that when rich people steal, they steal bigger than one can imagine.
Duterte also alleged that there is a presence of corruption at several government agencies, particularly in the Bureau of Customs, Department of Transportation and Communications and the Land Transportation Office; in particular the corruption on vehicle registration, no plates available and difficulty of renewing driver’s license.
As he apologized in advance to the businessmen who were at the Rotary meeting, he disclosed that part of his program is putting a stop to the practice of labor contractualization; not minding even if the business sector doesn’t vote for him.
If Duterte wins as president, he said he would stop collecting irrigation fees from poor farmers who are already debt-ridden.
He dedicates his victory to the Filipino people who had not been getting fair treatment in the delivery of basic services and justice.
Duterte maintained his vow to fight off the increasing criminality and illegal drug problems.
As Duterte said that one-fourth of the illegal drug supply in Metro Manila comes from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, he stressed that this will be stopped immediately if he becomes president.
“I will parade heads if necessary,” he said.
Part of his program is advocating the federal system of government to stop the central government in Manila from dominating Mindanao as he noted that the present system of government is the reason Mindanao is getting less attention.
Duterte’s campaign sortie earned the support of the mayors in 10 towns of Agusan del Norte.
Nasipit Mayor Enrico Corvera said Duterte is the only candidate who understands and relates to the needs of local governments.
Corvera said they back Duterte’s agenda on criminality, illegal drugs, and corruption; adding that it is their honor to support someone from Mindanao running for president as he and the other supporters expressed belief that the country will be peaceful under Duterte’s rule.
Former Agusan del Sur governor Charito Plaza, vice president of PDP-Laban, also urged their supporters to vote for Duterte; asking them not to waste the chance with the Davao City mayor being the pride of Mindanao.
Plaza said that Duterte’s credentials as lawyer, local official and a one-time congressman make him the most deserving and rightful presidential candidate.
Plaza said Duterte, who is an implementer and enforcer of laws, is the most competent among the candidates.
