Trentavious White, an up-and-coming American rapper known as “Bankroll Fresh,” was gunned down at a music studio in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, March 5.
The 28-year-old rapper was shot outside Street Execs Studios, a coroner investigator said. He died while he was being transported to the Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital.
Lt. Charles Hampton of the Atlanta Police Department said authorities responded to the scene at around 11 p.m. and found the artist wounded outside the recording studio.
50 shell casings were collected by police inside and outside the recording studio, CNN affiliate WSB TV said. No suspect has been arrested by police as of yet. A possible motive is still unknown.
The police believe no one else was hurt in the shooting.
A resident from the neighborhood, who heard the attack, told Atlanta Journal Constitution he initially thought it was fireworks.
“It was rapid fire. I mean it was a lot. Sounded like fireworks going off — ‘rattatttt’ like that, continuous. After a while, that quieted down, then, there was some loud booms that I recognized as being gunfire. And machine guns,” he said.
White’s fellow musicians and friends took to social media to mourn and offer their condolences after the news of his death came out.
Atlanta rapper 2Chains, part owner of the Street Execs Studios, tweeted: “Man I’m a fan of Bru and always will be, I’m in shock at the moment. Senseless deaths we just got to stop it, I’m speaking up now.”
Bankroll Fresh was best known for his hit “Hot Boy” from the 2014 album “Life of a Hot Boy”
