- Two emerging tourism destinations have a chance to win $ 500,000 each
- Dubbed ‘PATA CEO Challenge 2016’, the contest aims to introduce lesser known best destination sites to global audience
- Launched last 2015, PATA CEO Challenge is a collaboration of Pacific Asia Travel Association and TripAdvisor
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in partnership with TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, is once again in search of two emerging tourism destinations.
Dubbed ‘PATA CEO Challenge 2016′, the two winners will each receive an award of $ 500,000 to develop and create a digital marketing campaign to showcase their destination to a global audience, an article published by InterAksyon stated.
According to PATA Mario Hardy, the contest is an amazing opportunity for emerging destinations to enjoy a major boost to their marketing campaigns.
Launched last year, the PATA CEO Challenge is an awards program that embraces the uniqueness and diversity of different heritages, cultures, customs, and nature of world destinations.
Based on reports, the contest involves the selection of lesser known destinations that are ready to be discovered, enjoyed, and recognized for their authenticity and beauty.
Last year’s winner as Top Destination under the Regions/states/Provinces category was the province of Albay.
The PATA CEO Challenge 2016 is open to all regions, states, and provinces. This year, the rules have been amended to include those smaller nations that currently attract less than 100,000 international visitor arrivals in a calendar year.
Meanwhile, the TripAdvisor’s Head of Destination Marketing for Asia Pacific, Sarah Mathews, said that the challenge reinforce the company’s commitment on supporting and shining light on destinations to enable traveler discovery.
“TripAdvisor recently announced newly-redesigned destination pages to help global destination marketing organizations find new opportunities to reach TripAdvisor’s community of millions of travelers,” Mathews was quoted saying.
Matthews also cited that the new features allow them to complement the site’s user-generated content with their own; with an added insights on what to see and what to do in the destination site.
