- Producers reportedly forced to cancel Alden Richards’ concert at the Philippine Arena
- Sources blame the cancellation of the show to the dismal tickets sales
- An AlDub fansite claim Richards will only sing a few songs as a guest performer in the concert
MANILA, Philippines – Producers were forced to cancel the February 20 concert dubbed as “Sa Totoong Buhay Naman” on Philippine Arena headlined by popular television heartthrob Alden Richards; allegedly due to the dismal ticket sales.
Richard, the other half of the phenomenal AlDub tandem with Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, was supposed to perform in the concert that was expected to collide with James Reid-Nadine Lustre (JaDine) loveteam’s own show at the Araneta Coliseum on the same night.
An Inquirer report said the cancellation was due to the “producer’s decision.” Citing a source, the newspaper added that allegedly “only 74 tickets were sold.”
The Philippine Arena has a seating capacity of 55,000.
Inquirer further claimed a staffer at one of the ticket outlets could not provide any explanation why the show was cancelled.
Only a guest performer
A blog which claimed to be an AlDub fansite insisted that it was not Alden Richard’s concert, but rather, the young actor was supposed to sing only “a few songs” as a guest performer.
A poster of the show, however, showed a photo of Richards in the foreground along with other guests namely Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo, Jerald Napoles, Ruru Madrid and Jon Lucas, as well as the group That’s My Bae.
Entertainment writer Jun Nardo also clarified the show was only moved to a later date. Those who have already purchased the ticket are assured it will be honored once the scheduled date is announced.
