“Hindi man sinasadya ni Manny, sorry. Ako nang nanay humihingi ng paumanhin, kung ano mang ilait nyo sa kin, tanggapin ko ‘yan [Manny did not mean to hurt anybody’s feeling. I, his mother, is asking for forgiveness, whatever you say against me, I will accept it],” she said, as quoted by ABS-CBN.
Mommy Dionisia also appealed to people to stop attacking Manny in social media.
Meanwhile, she admitted that the controversial statement might affect his son’s candidacy but the most important thing for the family right now is for his son to acknowledge his mistake and to do his best not to repeat it.
Pacquiao is being criticized because of his comments against same-sex marriage. When asked about it in an interview, Pacquiao said those who are in same-sex relationship are worse that animals.
He later issued an apology and insisted he was “not condemning LGBT.”
Still, he is firm to his belief and maintained he is “against same sex marriage.”
“I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt. I still stand on my belief that I’m against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I’m not condemning LGBT. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I’m praying for you,” Pacquiao stated.
Because of the interview, the senatoriable gained a lot of negative comments online; and lost thousands of followers on Twitter.
