- A Facebook user observes an exchange of human kindness
- She posts the incident on Facebook to inspire people
- Through this post she also sends to the girl in Jollibee-Sta. Mesa her warm salute
In a post by social media user Zia Hyun, she shared an inspiring story about a girl who caught her attention while she was inside a fastfood branch in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
According to Hyun, on the afternoon of Sunday, February 21, 2016, she fell witness to a warm exchange between two strangers who were having their separate meals inside Jollibee in Sta.Mesa.
Apparently, there was this elderly man (as shown in the picture above) who was eating rice placed only in a plastic wrap plus what appeared to be papaya slices for viand.
Now there’s a girl in blue who, Hyun noticed, was staring intently at the elderly man. Then surprisingly, the girl stopped eating and hastily wrapped her food to give it to the elderly; her drink included.
Hyun expressed her delight over the girl’s generosity and obvious compassion: “Nkakatuwa kc yung knakain nya bingay nya ky tatang npansin kc nya n kanin lang n nkabalot s plastic at papaya ang knakain ni tatang. tinitigan nya ng matagal si tatang tapos bnalot nya bigla yung knakain nya tapos inabot ky tatang kasama nung inumin nya.”
[It was a sight to see because she gave her food and drink to the elderly when she noticed he only had rice in a plastic wrap and a few papaya slices for a meal.]
The FB poster then tells of how elated the elderly looked upon receiving the sudden grace. And not only that. Hyun goes on to share that the elderly shared two cuts of his papaya to the girl in blue — in exchange for her delicious generosity.
Moreover, Hyun highlights her story with huge admiration over the girl’s warm acceptance of the elderly’s ‘exchange gift.’
Why?
It’s because the girl in blue not only accepted the elderly man’s papaya out of respect, but she actually ate the papaya pieces.
Hyun goes on to say that, in all honesty, whether we’ll admit it or not, food coming from beggars or filthy-looking persons are usually thrown away or ignored.
Not this girl though, said Hyun: “kakaiba siya, wala siyang pakialam.” [She’s rare.] Ate, kung sino k man saludo aq sayo. [Whoever you are, I salute you.] God Bless.”
