The story of this 83-year-old man has inspired many.
Despite his advanced age, the old man walks daily from Mati to Lupon in Davao Oriental, a 24 KM distance that is doubled as he goes back and forth, just to sell native mats in order to afford his daily expenses.
Facebook page ‘Tambayan ni Berto Worldwide’ posted a photo of the old man smiling while carrying the mats.
Many netizens perceived the post as an inspirational story, considering his determination and drive to continuously work and not use his age as an excuse. However, some also expressed their concern for the old man, considering the dangers he may face in the long almost 50 KM walk due to his vulnerable health.
The netizen who took the photo showed his concern, saying the man deserves to be helped. Unfortunately, no further details about the old man have surfaced.
