Another daily dose of weird news: a man caught a delicious sea monster off the coast of Hamilton, Bermuda.
Apparently, fisherman Tristan Loescher was just looking for some snapper. What he got instead was something out of a science fiction movie.
The massive crustacean was reeled in by Loescher, and weighed a staggering 7 kilograms or approximately 14.5 pounds.
The lobster was believed to have been blown in by the recent Hurricane Nicole, which reached to category 4 with speeds of up to 185 kph.
Sanctuary Marine Bermuda, a fishing charter that operates out of Hamilton, Bermuda, shared photos and a video of the massive lobster, which Loescher snagged over the weekend. They captioned the post with “Hurricane Nicole blew in some sea monsters.”
The sanctuary said that the lobster could be over 70 years old.
While the monster lobster would certainly feed plenty, the charter said that it released the lobster back into the ocean.
“After never seeing something that size before, I decided it was best for it to go back to the home he came from,” Loescher told Inside Edition.
The original post has received more than 4,800 reactions and has been shared more than 35,000 times.
Despite the fact that the crustacean is gigantic, it doesn’t even come close to the largest lobster recorded in 1977, which weighed more than 44 pounds according to the Guinness Book of Records.
