Sea snakes are venomous just like the snake people see on land. However, they are not the only venomous creatures lurking in the seas. In fact, there are other sea creatures that could go face-to-face against, such as the stonefish.
Stonefish venom is fatal especially to humans. It also considered being one of the most venomous fish ever discovered.
Ever wondered what will happen if a sea snake tries to subdue a stonefish? The fight may turn out to be a little interesting.
This unusual event was witnessed by a fisherman. Rick Trippe, an Australian Spear Fisher man claims that he was just diving in Darwin Harbour at the World War Two wreck when he saw a snake grabbing something by its mouth.
What surprised him is that the fish is fighting back!
According to Daily Mail Australia, he said, “With curiosity, we motored over to find this massive thick sea snake close to two meters long, with a poisonous fish in its mouth. The fish had a great hold on the sea snake and both looked very sad. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a snake looking sad before.”
Despite the danger, he still tried to break them apart! Of course, seeing the opportunity to witness such a rare happening, Trippe caught the whole thing on video.
“Being an animal lover, I grabbed the snake just behind the head with serious precaution, knowing the sea snake are highly venomous. I removed the poisonous fish from its mouth and body,” Trippe said.
However, another commotion happened between the two sea creatures.
“I then released the now happy snake away from its feed. It was amazing how it sprang back to life and looked so happy the moment I put it back into the ocean. But moments later, I saw the snake swim around making a beeline for the fish for a second attempt,” Trippe added.
Who do you think won in this epic battle? Trippe claimed that the snake won the fight but the celebration won’t be that long because the venom of the fish can kill fast.
