A teenage mother from Cebu was arrested for allegedly taking nude photos and videos of her two young daughters and selling them online.
Mentioned in an article published by Inquirer, police operatives caught the woman videotaping her children, aged 5 and 2 years old, while taking a bath near a well in Barangay Buagsong of Cordova township in Mactan Island on Saturday, July 30.
She is now put behind bars at the Fuente Police Station in Cebu City and will be charged with qualified trafficking – non-bailable offense, for using her children in cyber pornography.
No other details about the identity of the accused are disclosed as to protect the identities of her children.
The suspect owned up to the act of taking nude videos and photos of her children, but that she did not know that what she was doing was illegal.
“Inosente gyud tawn ko. [I’m innocent],” she said, claiming that she only did it at the request of an online acquaintance.
However, based on the investigation and surveillance operations done by the police the woman have completed at least 70 transactions with foreign customers. She was nabbed after taking a fake request to take naked photographs and videos of her children for $ 70.
According to local police, Cordova town has had plenty of citizens that were arrested for cyber-pornography operations
Chief Insp. Rose Santolorin of the Women and Children Protection in the Visayas said it is difficult for them to trace some of those involved in such illegal operation, as they have shifted to using their mobile phones instead of a computer.
“That’s really been our challenge. I hope people engaged in this kind of business will realize that what they are doing is undoubtedly wrong,” she said. “It destroys the dignity of people, especially if those involved are your kids.”
