An innocent woman was mistaken for a drug peddler and killed by vigilantes in Dagupan City.
Rowena Tiamson, a college student, was one of the 6 people who were gunned down by the so-called Dagupan and Pangasinan Death Squads last week.
Tiamson’s family and friends cried for justice, saying the 22-year-old is far from being a drug pusher. According to her friends, Rowena was a “kind and calm” person. She was a consistent honor student and an active choir member of her church.
She would’ve graduated this October.
Netizens joined the family’s plea by using the hashtag #?JusticeForRowena? in their posts.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that Tiamson was indeed not included the “drug watch list,” and reiterated that the police force does not condone extrajudicial killings.
According to Inquirer’s Kill List, there have been 420 deaths since the government started its campaign against illegal drugs, 154 of those deaths were carried out by vigilantes.
