- Well-known television personality Lourd de Veyra criticized a newspaper headline
- The headline of the printed article has the word ‘f*ck’
- Facebook users have different reactions on De Veyra’s post
Well-known television personality Lourd de Veyra criticized a headline on the front page of a newspaper which used a foul word.
“Ilang bata kaya ang nagtatanong sa mga magulang nila ngayon kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng salitang… media [I wonder how many children asked their parents if what is the meaning of the word… media]?” De Veyra captioned the photo which he posted on Facebook.
The post, which has generated over 2,000 Facebook reactions as of posting, got different reactions from Facebook users.
Some criticized the headline, too.
“It just occurred to me that he probably baited the media to print that word…. First time in my life I’ve seen that word printed on a daily newspaper. Front page pa [To think that it is on the front page],” R. Gamboa said.
“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re misinformed,” G. Pereira wrote.
Some, however, do not seem to mind the foul word in the headline.
“Tama lang ‘yan. Dapat bata pa lang mulat na sa katotohanan [That’s okay. Kids should be aware of the reality]. We’re living in these advance information tech (technology) era…. What we can only do is live with it and deal with it,” J. Dela Cruz stated.
“Remember we are not called to elect a saint or role model. We are called to elect a president,” D. Gozar pointed out.
While A. Lloret thanked De Veyra for posting the photo.
“Thank you Lourd for using your page as means for us to express our opinions or views to certain significant issues in our society,” the Facebook user commented.
Meanwhile, even as De Veyra did not name the newspaper, some Facebook users already have a hint; while some have personally bought a copy.
